$1.8 million will fund SDSU biofuels research

A $1.8 million award from the North Central Regional Sun Grant Center is funding a four-year project to explore developing a sustainable feedstock and next-generation processing technologies for biofuels production. In addition, Brookings-based VeraSun Energy Corp. and ICM Inc. of Colwich, Kan., will each contribute $400,000 to the effort. Bill Gibbons, professor in the Department of Biology/Microbiology, is the principal investigator.
