2008 SDSU Family of the Year Has Close Ties to ABS College
AgBio CommunicationsStaters for State, the SDSU student alumni organization, named the Les and Wanda Roberts family the 2008 SDSU Family of the Year at a Feb. 23 banquet. Three generations and 11 family members have attended SDSU. Staters for State selected the family based on their dedication to and support of SDSU, their significant achievements, and their involvement as students and alumni.
Les graduated from SDSU in 1948 with a degree in agricultural engineering. Wanda, now deceased, also graduated from SDSU in 1948. Her degree was in nursing. Les has served on the Alumni Council, Foundation, and McCrory Gardens advisory boards, was a member of the AgBio Development Council, and was honored as a Distinguished Alumnus in 1998.
Their four children all attended SDSU, and the family has earned degrees in such ABS fields as agricultural and biosystems engineering, mechanized agriculture, and agricultural business. Their son Mike serves on the AgBio Development Council board, and their son Kevin is a member of the SDSU Foundation Board of Governors.
